This home had a broken-down deck that was unsafe, not to mention, it wasn't the oasis this homeowner had hoped for. I had the pleasure of extending their living space from their kitchen to the outdoors.
The vision was to have a cozy, functional deck where they could enjoy morning coffees, family meals, and evening relaxation. Here's a glimpse of how we transformed that vision into a tangible retreat, right off their kitchen!

Starting this project, the first step was to assess the old deck, which had seen better days. With wear and tear evident, it was essential for me to tear it down and start afresh to ensure the longevity and safety of the new structure. The dismantling process gave me a blank canvas, providing an opportunity to envision and design the new deck from scratch.
Safety was my utmost priority. With the family's needs in mind, I incorporated features like tall, sturdy railings, lighting on the stairs, and access to the yard in two places for added functionality. I wanted the family to maximize the use of their new deck, so I took special care to ensure it was both visually appealing and functional. The deck is a practical space tailored to their daily life.
